Pastor Chris' Letter March 2017

Dear Trinity Family, I want to use my letter this month to share with you some of the work that has been going on behind the scenes to advance our church into the future. When I first arrived at Trinity, I heard many of you express the importance of our youth and children at the church. With this value of working for our youth and children in mind, I have been working over the past eighteen months with our former staff-parish committee and leadership team, and now with our church board, to move forward in expressing this value. The answer these groups arrived at is to fulfill a wish that has been in our church for many years, that of hiring a full-time person to take care of our youth and children’s programs. We have temporarily titled the position “Director of Family Ministries.” It  will not remove Debbie Miller as Children’s Ministry Leader, but will it provide her with much-needed support. The Director’s time will be divided between three key areas. The primary focus  will b

Pastor Angie's In-spire-ations March 2017

I am addicted to sticky notes!  That’s because my memory isn’t what it used to be.  Life gets so busy that we forget not only what we need to get done, but even who we are in the midst of the hustle. I need a note that says, “Your name is Angie…you belong to God!”  Maybe my sticky note should be more about what God wants me to do rather than what I think I should be doing.  Maybe that focus would keep me from falling into old habits and routines. We joke about it a lot, but remembering is important.  I challenge you to think of it as a spiritual task that strengthens who we are in Christ.  It’s important to remember who we were before we were in Christ so that we don’t repeat those old habits or get stuck in old routines.  The risky part of remembering comes when where we have been looks pretty inviting and we get stuck on the bus back to Egypt. II Corinthians 5:17 says: “ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a  new creation . The old has gone. The new has come.”  I can’

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt Pastor Chris is again going to open his home for a fun celebration of Easter with kids. The reason for this is twofold. First, it is a great way for families of the church to get together. Second, large Easter egg hunts can be a scary place for young kids—even some older kids, too. So Chris and Michelle would like to invite everyone to their house for an age-appropriate Easter Egg Hunt. (Yes, everyone can come—but only kids infant through 6 th grade can hunt for eggs.) The hunt will be April 8, with festivities beginning at 10:30 am. It will be at their home at 105 Hillcrest Drive, Kendallville.  (If bad weather, we will move to the church.) Please sign up at the Ministry Center if you plan on coming so we can have enough eggs and supplies. This would also be a great event to invite another family to join, as it is not at the church and it is a family friendly environment.

Easter Lilies

Easter Lilies We will offer folks an opportunity to purchase real lilies for Easter, but we will also continue our tradition of having paper lilies. For every ten dollars donated, we will hang a paper lily in the narthex. All the money that is raised through the paper lilies will go to help fund life-changing opportunities for our young people. This money will be divided evenly between scholarships for our children to go to church camp and our young adults to attend Momentum. These two events can provide moments for our young people to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ. With the help of this campaign last year, we were able to send many kids to camp for the first time. And we are happy to offer again this year camp scholarships at the rate of 75% of the total cost. For more information about camp and scholarships, contact Debbie Miller.
