Pastor Chris' Letter March 2017
Dear Trinity Family,
I want to use my letter this month to share with you some of the work that has been going on behind the scenes to advance our church into the future. When I first arrived at Trinity, I heard many of you express the importance of our youth and children at the church. With this value of working for our youth and children in mind, I have been working over the past eighteen months with our former staff-parish committee and leadership team, and now with our church board, to move forward in expressing this value.
The answer these groups arrived at is to fulfill a wish that has been in our church for many years, that of hiring a full-time person to take care of our youth and children’s programs. We have temporarily titled the position “Director of Family Ministries.” It will not remove Debbie Miller as Children’s Ministry Leader, but will it provide her with much-needed support.
The Director’s time will be divided between three key areas. The primary focus will be direct involvement with the Youth Ministry. Their second focus will be providing support to our Children’s Ministry through administrative and curriculum support. Finally, the third focus will be Family Ministry, working with family units as a whole to help create disciples. The idea behind this is that to meet our mission “to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world,” we need to work with the whole family. The reason for this is that the church only really has at best fifty-two days a year with children and youth, but their families get three hundred and sixty-five.
So over the last few months we have been pursuing the right person to be our new Director of Family Ministries. At the time of this letter we are still in the process of searching for the best person to fill this role at the church. But I wanted you to know the steps we are taking to meet the needs of our church and community. I would ask during this time for you to pray with all of those involved, that we would find the right person to move us forward in this important area of ministry. I would also ask that you will show your support to help whoever God does provide to meet our vision of caring for our youth and children.
