Pastor Chris' Letter April 2017
Dear Trinity Family,
Last month it was my job to share the bittersweet news that Tina Wilkinson was resigning from her position at Trinity as our Director of Connections. This news is bitter because she will be missed. She and her family have been an integral part of the ministry of our church for the last 6 years. However this news has a sweet side. Since before I arrived at Trinity, Tina has been wrestling with a call upon her heart to help our community. By stepping away from Trinity, she can have the much needed space and rest to discern and pursue this call on her life.
I am beyond grateful for Tina’s ministry at Trinity and beyond. She has been integral in helping Trinity through pastoral transition, building teams, and raising the level of our contemporary worship. I am so thankful for the gifts that God has given her for ministry. Both her heart and leadership have helped us come this far and we will miss her. I could spend the rest this newsletter expressing gratitude for Tina’s many accomplishments and her work behind the scenes but I believe they speak for themselves. I would also be remiss to not thank her family because the Wilkinsons are the very definition of a family in ministry. Jim, Jason, and Joel have all held official and unofficial roles and they have given of their time and talents in many ways to serve here at Trinity, and I am personally thankful for all that they have done.
I encourage you to share with all the Wilkinsons the way that their ministry has affected you and your family here at Trinity. We will have a special celebration for them on Sunday, April 23rd, and I would love for you to come and thank them for their service and to send them off toward their future ministries.
Saying goodbye is never easy, but it is always important to remember that goodbye is not eternal. Did you know that goodbye is a contraction of the phrase, “God be with ye?” This is also the origin of the hymn “God be with you till we meet again.” And in this is a great reminder that in Christ there truly is no goodbye but rather a see you later.
