What’s Going On? By Pastor Chris
A few months ago, I shared that there were several safety concerns in the Gathering Hall that needed to be addressed. These issues included but were not limited to a worn out carpet that has become a trip hazard, a stage that at times creaks and is soft in places, and electrical issues that plague our sound system. With the help of the staff and the leadership team, we have found a way to resolve these issues and to give a face lift to the Gathering Hall.
Late last fall, the leadership team voted to take on the project of renovating the Gathering Hall centered on these concerns, as well as, wanting to make sure we made changes that would last another 25 years. They allocated money from our Foundation (that saw a great year in interest last year) to make these changes. With this approval we sought multiple bids for flooring, paint, sound, wall repair, and electrical work. We now have settled on a few vendors and work will begin soon.
I wanted to make you aware of these changes as the project may interfere with our regularly scheduled programming. We will have to move most of the items in the Gathering Hall out during the work and will have to find other places to store them around the church. (This space as you know is at a premium and may cause some groups to have to move spaces temporarily.) The largest interruption will be that it may be necessary (depending on timing) for the second service to meet in the Sanctuary for a week or two. We have a plan for moving things around and hope to have all of the work completed by Easter, April 1st (no joke.)
I am excited for these changes that will help us to continue the dream that started over 25 years ago in the Gathering Hall of meeting the needs of our community and church family. Our hope is to prep this space for another 25 years of ministry. There are a few ways you can help as we move forward. The first and our favorite way is to pray for the project, its leaders and all of the workers who will help us make these changes. Secondly, be patient with us. When things are out of place everyone will feel the pressure so give a little extra grace. Thirdly, there is some simple prep work that we will begin the week of March 5th. If you have a drill and or some time, we could use your help anytime during this week just call the office or e-mail me at chris@trinitychurchum.org to set up a time or see what you can do to help. This work will culminate with a work day on March 10th to finish the prep work beginning at 10 am. Again if you can help let us know. And as always if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
