Pastor Chris' Letter June 2018

Dear Trinity Family, It sometimes feels like time flies. As I prepare to leave for the Annual Conference of the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church, I recognize that I am finishing my third year here at Trinity Church and beginning my fourth year of ministry here in Kendallville. I thank each of you for welcoming me and my family to Trinity.   It has been my joy to serve with this community over the last three years, and I look forward to the time ahead as we continue on this journey together. When I was on vacation, I had a great moment of clarity for the blessing that I have received to be your pastor. We were in Scottsdale, AZ and we happened to be able to connect with an old friend from seminary. It was a marvelous time for Michelle and me to reacquaint ourselves with him and for him to get to meet our son for the first time. The moment of clarity came when he invited us to see the church he was serving in Scottsdale.   (That’s what pastors do on vacation, look

Pastor Angie's In-Spire-ations June 2018

It’s nice to be loved.   Thank you!!   I say that because the question that continues to be on everyone’s mind is, “Does ordination mean we will be losing you?”   You can relax.   Deacons are NOT moved around like Elders.   Elders are the ones you will find as lead/senior pastors and they are the ones who travel from church to church over time.   It is rare for a Deacon to hold a senior pastor role, but there are a few.     When Deacons hold a primary appointment OUTSIDE of the church, like I do, we are also required to hold a secondary appointment INSIDE of a local church.   So…Common Grace Ministries is my primary appointment and Trinity is my secondary.   Common Grace Ministries had to be approved by the Bishop and the Cabinet as my placement.   When I sought a secondary appointment at Trinity, I had to go before your staff parish team (now your leadership team) for approval.   Once approved at that level, both Pastor Chris and I had to write a letter to the Conference Superin

What’s Going On (by Pastor Chris)

What’s Going On (by Pastor Chris) Some of you may have seen that we made a decision and then changed it surrounding our rummage sale. If you happened to be in church on May 20 th , (If not you may be a bit confused by this article) then you saw or heard that we (the staff and leadership team) had made the decision to cancel this year’s rummage sale. But I (Pastor Chris) have changed this decision. The reasoning behind this decision was multi-fold. In discussions with many of the leaders of the ministry they were unable to help because of current or developing health issues. On top of this we have a lot more work to do this year because of the work we have just finished in the Gathering Hall. During the process of remodeling the Gathering Hall we took the great effort to replace the rubber feet on all our tables and chairs (thank you Frederick Fusco) so that we do not damage our new floors. But we have a large number of racks that have no rubber feet and we will have to redevelo

Father’s Day Transformation

Father’s Day Transformation In light of our thinking, as a church, how to be FOR Kendallville we have decided to do Mother’s and Father’s Day differently. Through this effort on Mother’s Day we raised $1000 for Life and Family Services, We, as a church, also believe in supporting fathers of all kinds—biological fathers, foster and adoptive fathers, coaches, mentors, and spiritual fathers. So because of this we are going to make a gift in honor of fathers of all types to Life and Family Services to help fathers in our community. This is a great opportunity for us to show we are FOR Kendallville. We will have a representative on June 3 rd from Life and Family Services join us to share about their marvelous father’s programs and how we can help them lift up fathers in our community. We will take up special offerings on June 3 rd (with communion) and June 17 th (Father’s Day) to do something special for our fathers in Kendallville.
