Pastor Chris' March Letter 2016

Dear Trinity Family,  Over the last couple of months, we have been discussing what it means to be a disciple and how we live this out as a part of Trinity Church. This is the purpose behind the current teaching series called “Connect Grow Serve.” These topics are designed to help us to focus on our relationship with Jesus Christ and to keep the focus on how we live as disciples (followers) of Jesus Christ. Throughout this series I have pointed out that the easiest way for us to go astray is when we forget the why of what we are doing as the church. This is why it is important that every church have a mission and vision statement that helps to remember what we are here for.  The mission statement of Trinity church is the same as every United Methodist church: Our mission is to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This mission statement is not unique to the United Methodist Church. It is Jesus that has set this as the mission of all Christians.

Insights from Ladies' Bible Study

Statistics tell us that 80% of pastors feel discouraged and 94% of pastors’ families feel the pressure of ministry. Are you an encourager or a critic? Do you pray faithfully for the Stephens and their leadership teams in the church? According to Psalm 68:9, God desires to give new vigor and freshness to His children—which includes everyone who has a meaningful, personal relationship with Christ.  7,000 churches close each year. What are you doing to help make Trinity Church a vibrant, growing church? God needs people who will go beyond discussing troublesome situations and will DO something to effect positive change. God uses each person in unique ways to accomplish His purposes.  Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? Are you using your gifts? (Have you taken advantage of Network class to learn more about the gifts God has given you? For more info on the next network class contact the church office.)  In the Old Testament—what? God wants to teach us something out of the Old

Youth Letter

Mindy and I would sincerely like to express our heartfelt appreciation for those of you who helped with     donated items, time of service, attendance, and prayers for our youth group's "Magnifico, Punch to Your Palate" Italian dinner! The Gathering Hall was truly transformed into an "Italian Bistro.” We could not have done this      without you! THANK YOU Our Monday morning devotions are going well, and it's great to see these teens sharing (without fear of   judgment) life's hardships and positive opportunities happening in each of their lives! We continue to       challenge one another to continuously give THANKS and PRAISE to GOD—as well as knowing the difference in these two—without reservation. Thanks for what God is doing or has done in our lives and Praise for God's wide array of attributes! Only God can be God! He is marvelous and worthy of our praise. It's not as easy to put all this into action but there again...nothing worth doing comes ea

Blood Drive

Severe winter weather this year has forced the cancellation of hundreds of blood drives in our Tri-State area.  This has depleted an already low supply. Trinity Church will be the site of a blood drive Friday, March 4, 2016 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Appointments can be scheduled by using the Red Cross Blood Donor app., visiting  redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-redcross (1-800-7332767).  However, walk-ins are welcome.  Each pint collected will help three patients who might be facing serious surgery, organ transplant, leukemia or cancer treatments.  Please consider giving an hour of your time and a pint of life-saving blood.

Momentum Sign Up

Momentum Sign-Up   Momentum is an awesome team building and spiritual renewal time for our teens. This year Momentum is July 26-31 at Cedarville (OH) University. The cost for registration is $75 (February 1-March 31st). There are two reasons to stress signing up early: 1)The registration price goes up after March 31.       2) Since this event functions as a way to facilitate trust and encourage one another as a team, the team then needs to help to raise the money together.  Their final fundraiser for Momentum will be Nelson’s chicken sales on April 15.
