Pastor Chris' Letter August 2017

Dear Trinity Family,
Wow! It seems like the summer has just flown by. The kids start back to school in the next couple of days and the church is gearing up for an August filled with many opportunities for ministry. We have two big events in August. I would ask that everyone help out with these great opportunities through your prayers, presence, gifts, and service. This is because these are more than just events they are opportunities for us to serve and love our neighbors as we be and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. With my letter today, I am going to share both of these marvelous opportunities, share why we do them, and share how you can help.
The first of these is Kid City on August 5th from 10am to 3pm. We have a great connection historically to Kid City as it was the hope and dream of one of our members. Kid City is a great event designed for kids to learn, grow, and play. It is an awesome opportunity for us to show our commitment to our next generation. This year we will again have our “Trinity Spire Golf” (a 8 foot tall replica of our spire that has a miniature golf hole running through it.) It was a big hit last year and kids lined up to get a chance to play. We also have 400 children’s books and bookmarks (for the kids to make) to give away. This is an awesome opportunity for us to build relationships with families and show our hope for future generations. You can get involved by praying for the event, coming Thursday, August 3 at 10am to prepare the books, or sign up for a shift to hand out books and bookmarks.
The other opportunity is a new opportunity. It is Engage Sunday on August 27th starting at 10am. The first piece about this is a reminder that we will not have 10:45am service on this day. Engage Sunday is an awesome opportunity. It is truly an answer to prayer that the churches of Kendallville would come together for something larger than themselves. Thirteen churches are coming together to show the love of Jesus Christ by serving together in our community. We are estimating over 600 people will be a part of this awesome opportunity. Engage Sunday will begin with serving together followed by a meal together and ending with worshipping together at North Side Elementary. There are many ways for you to help. One is to pray for the leaders and the churches who are involved and those who will be served. Another way to help is by contributing quarters in the bottle on the ministry center. This will help with one of the ways we are serving by paying for people’s laundry at the two laundromats in town. And then of course you can help by signing up for one of the many projects that are taking place that day. You can see all of the projects and sign up online at www.engagesunday.com/kendallville-churches. Or you can sign up at the ministry center. (Bonus opportunity: We also will host the popcorn stand this weekend on August 25th through the 27th from 5:30 to 8pm.)
August looks to be a busy month and I look forward to the marvelous interactions and relationships that will take place and the way God will use us to show his love. So I encourage you as I did at the beginning of this letter to take part in these marvelous opportunities through your prayers, presence, gifts, and service.
