Pastor Chris' Letter August 2018
Dear Trinity Family,
Beginning August 5th we will start a new teaching series called A “Neighborhood” Block Party. This series will be a great follow up to our FOR Kendallville teaching series from this spring. In this series we are going to talk about how sometimes the idea of a party can bring people of all different backgrounds, cultures, and settings in life together. This series will also contain some elements that call us to action as a part of our FOR Kendallville Campaign.
First, in August we will begin our FOR Fridays. This is one Friday a month where we highlight a local business and we ask everyone in the church and our connected social network to help these local businesses. This is a two-fold benefit. First we are able to learn about the people who run our local businesses. This relationship building and getting to know those in our community is an awesome opportunity to be FOR Kendallville. The second way is we are able to support our local businesses which is the best way to keep them in business.
Second, we are going to have our second joint Block Party/Health Fair with St. John’s Lutheran Church. This is a great way to show our neighbors we are FOR Kendallville. We are not promoting St. John’s or Trinity; we are promoting our neighborhood. Our Block Party will be September 15, 2018 from 12pm to 3pm. Our next planning meeting is here at the church on August 8, 2018 at 4pm. There are many ways you can help from serving food, walking the neighborhood with invitations, or just being there to have conversations with our neighbors. We hope you can help us show our neighbors that we care.
Finally, we will be a part of Engage Sunday again this year on August 26, 2018. This means we will have only one service at Trinity on this day at 8:25 am. We encourage everyone to join us at 10am as we join with over 12 area churches to show God’s love for our community. As a church that believes in the power of prayer we will again be leading the prayer walk (although there is no walking required). We will then join together with all who served for lunch at North Side Elementary and a joint worship service including members of our worship band. This is an amazing experience. Even if you feel you cannot help serving (there is work for all abilities), the lunch and joint worship should not be missed.
These are just a few of the ways we are continuing to show that we are FOR Kendallville. I hope you will join with us as we show God’s love to our community. So that Trinity Church would be known for being FOR Kendallville and not what is assumed we are against.
